IDM 11gR2 changes/new features : OIM Sysadmin & Identity console

This post (first one in series IDM 11gR2 changes/new features) covers change in OIM URL and Administration Console. For Oracle IDM 11gR2 high level installation steps click here, for IDM 11gR2 documentation click here and to download IDM 11gR2 software click here

1. Administration Console – In 11gR1 (11.1.1.3/5) there are three Administration Web Consoles a) Self Service Console b) Administration Console and c) Advanced Administration Console accessible via http://oimhost.oimport/oim . (To know more about three administration console in 11gR1 check my book on Amazon)

a) In OIM 11gR2 (11.1.2), Self Service and Administration Console are moved to new URL /identity i.e. http://HOST:PORT/identity (Note: /oim should still work and will redirect to /identity)

b) In OIM 11gR2 – new console sysadmin is introduced for System Administrators  (This console covers most of 11gR1 advanced administration console functions + some design console function)

http://oimhost:oimPort/sysadmin (sysadmin is Case Sensitive) login as xelsysadm/<password supplied during OIM configuration>

2. Sandbox (new feature) : is a Temporary storage area to save a group of runtime page customizations before they are either saved and published to other users. Using this link you can create, delete, activate, deactivate, and publish sandboxes

3. Password Policy : You can now create, manage and assign password policy via system administration console (In 11gR1 and previous release password policies used to be created & applied via OIM Design Console)

Great post and right on time as I am configuring the new 11R2.

The only thing I have problems with is the designation everyone has forth products.

IDAM – (OAM,OIM,OAAM,etc)

IDM- (OID,OUD,OVD,OIF)….

Alternativly I have seen IAM – which is what?

What do you think?

thanx,
David

@ David,
I knew that this comment will come , I wanted to name it as IDAM11gR2 but since everyone in Oracle Product management is using this release as IDM 11gR2 hence this title of series

and I can fully understand what you are going through 🙂

IAM in my view is Identity & Access Management.

FYI, OIF is moving away from IDM stack to IDAM, in 11gR2 OIF is part of Access Management which is under IDAM

Can I customize the Self Service screen based upon user type or role? I don’t want many of my users to see the Sandbox or Administration items.

Thanks!

Did you use OHS to access OIM 11gR2 sysadmin page or directly via OIM managed server port ?

Hi Atul,
After logging on to sysadmin, if I click on the “Mange Connector” link, I get the error screen with message

Error 401–Unauthorized

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol — HTTP/1.1:

10.4.2 401 Unauthorized. “.
Any suggestion as to why it is ahppening and what is the fix ?

Thanks

khawaldar, you need to open windows with oim r1 interface (for example Scheduler) and error will disappear

Hi Atul.
I am great follower of your blog and also i have read the book written by you.

Here are my questions related to OIMR2 :-
Is the function of adding proxy to end users via admin account is enabled in OIM R2 as how we do it in R1.
Thanks,
Arun

Hi Atul,

In OIM 11g R1 , the authorization policy is implemented in an embedded OES engine.
While in OIM 11g R2 , it is seperated from OIM completely and the changes to these auth policies has to be implemented in OES server seperately.

Is this understanding correct?

Hi,

I am registering a new user, after I approve the request with the admin login the request fails and in the request details “Organization fields” comes blank.

Please advice me on creating the a user in OIM with self registration.

Thanks.

Vijay

Hi,
I was working with OIM 10G, we are now migrating to 11G R2.
Had a doubt, how to make Process Defintion and adapters here. Do we have a tab/link for Adapter or is it changed to any new name or link ?

Thanks
