What is Oracle Web Cache ?<\/strong>
\nOracle web cache is component of 10g Application Server<\/em> which is installed by default with Portal & Wireless or BI & Forms type Installation. You can also install standalone webcache<\/span> for J2ee<\/span> & webcache<\/span> applications or to configure webcache<\/span> with Oracle Applications 11i<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Why I need Web Cache ?<\/strong>
\nAs name suggest web cache act as Cache<\/strong> for Web Servers including<\/span> Oracle Application Server 9i, 10g to cache frequently used static & dynamic pages. Web Cache is used for increasing response time<\/strong><\/em> of your site by caching frequently used partial \/ full page , images, pdf<\/span>. Web cache can also act as Software Load balancer<\/span><\/em><\/strong> or Reverse Proxy Server<\/em><\/strong> or Front end to your Applications to Hide server name.<\/p>\n

Is Web Cache configurable & Certified with Apps 11i ?<\/strong>
\nYes, Web cache can be configured with Apps 11i as reverse proxy server<\/em><\/strong> (for security) and Failover<\/span> & Surge Protection<\/em><\/strong> (To minimize downtime) .
\n*Web Cache can’t be used as Load balancer for E-Business Suite as its not possible to set session stickyness in Webcache. (Thanks to Gaurav for pointing this out)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
