\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In this post I am going to cover what is Oracle Fusion Middleware <\/strong>(FMW<\/strong>), Why I learnt it<\/strong> and What<\/strong>\u00a0&\u00a0How you should learn<\/strong>\u00a0it too.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 Before I tell more about FMW, for those who don’t know me, 16 Years ago<\/strong>, I started my career as an Oracle Apps DBA <\/b>and since then, I moved\u00a0from\u00a0Full Time Employee <\/b>to Freelancer <\/b>(Contractor) and finally\u00a0started Company <\/b>(providing consulting & Implementation on Oracle products)<\/span>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 I started this blog approx. 10 Years ago and since then I became Oracle ACE<\/b>, Authored<\/b>\u00a0two books and presented in various Oracle Seminars<\/strong> & User Groups<\/strong>\u00a0but life was not always as easy and rosy as it sounds. I had my own struggle and learnt it in hard way. Good news…, however, is that you don’t have to go through same pain that I went through and it shouldn’t take you as long as it took me<\/b> to reach here.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Just follow my steps and see what I learnt<\/strong> and how I learnt<\/strong> and shorten your path to success<\/strong>.\u00a0 The important thing I know, is that, If I can do it\u00a0<\/b><\/em>then you can too<\/b><\/em>.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 It was July 2007,<\/b> when Oracle was in process of acquiring BEA<\/b> (WebLogic Server<\/b>) and Oracle Fusion Middleware <\/b>was taking shape with Oracle SOA, Webcenter, Portal , OHS , WebCache, WebLogic\u00a0<\/strong>and lot more. In my Oracle Apps DBA journey, I was coming to a point where I\u00a0realised\u00a0competition<\/strong> from other budding Apps DBAs<\/b> was getting tougher<\/strong> (Yes that’s true, there were lot of Apps DBAs in 2007 compared to 2000-2001 where there were only handful of good Oracle Apps DBAs<\/strong> working on 11i and then R12<\/strong><\/span>) and soon I\u00a0realised\u00a0I need to re-invent<\/strong> and learn new skills<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I started\u00a0realising\u00a0that\u00a0companies were looking,\u00a0not just for an Apps DBA<\/b>\u00a0but someone with\u00a0multi-skills<\/strong> on various Oracle products like SOA, Portal, WebCenter, WebLogic, OHS etc.. With adoption of Business Process modelling and since Oracle’s acquisition<\/strong> of BEA\u00a0<\/strong>and BEA’s rich set of Middleware Products, Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMW), I soon\u00a0realised\u00a0that if I have to stay ahead in the game, I need to learn Oracle Fusion Middleware<\/b>.\u00a0 It took me almost 3 years<\/strong> to learn Oracle Fusion Middleware for various reasons –<\/div>\n

a)<\/strong> Earlier I was really shy in investing in my learning<\/strong>, I finally enrol for a course that was really expensive but if I look back now, it was totally worth.<\/p>\n

b) <\/b>There was not <\/b>lot of information available earlier on Oracle Fusion Middleware<\/strong> and it was quite confusing in those early days.<\/p>\n

c)<\/b>\u00a0And most importantly, there was no one to guide<\/b> or Mentor <\/b>me that Fusion Middleware is really important at that time.<\/p>\n

I learnt Oracle\u00a0<\/strong>Fusion Middleware<\/b> in hard way but you don’t have to. In this and next few posts, I am going to share what you need to learn<\/b><\/em>\u00a0in Oracle Fusion Middleware<\/b> and in subsequent posts I’ll show\u00a0how<\/b><\/em> and from\u00a0where<\/b><\/em> you can learn …<\/p>\n

Why should you learn Oracle Fusion Middleware?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I always start with Why<\/em><\/b>? So, first question that should always come to your mind is that Why should you learn Oracle Fusion Middleware<\/b>?<\/p>\n

Well!<\/em> for number of reasons (post\u00a0comment\u00a0<\/strong>and share me what’s your reason for learning Fusion Middleware)<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> With adoption of Business Processes & SOA as main stream and to integrate systems<\/b> (In-House and with Cloud\/SaaS) more and more companies are implementing Oracle Fusion Middleware.<\/p>\n

This means there are lot more Fusion Middleware Jobs<\/b> available and if you are\u00a0like me<\/strong> with knowledge on Oracle Apps DBA (R12 or 11i) and with little bit of Identity Management, you can really demand lot of money<\/b><\/em> and respect in the Job.\u00a0 I now charge almost 3 times<\/strong> in contracting rate (lot of times higher than consultants from top 5 MNCs) than I used to charge few years ago.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Oracle Fusion Middleware is now everywhere , If you look at Oracle E-Business Suite R12.2<\/b> , Underlying Technology Stack contains two of the most important FMW components (WebLogic<\/b> & OHS<\/b>)<\/p>\n

3. <\/b>Oracle Fusion Applications<\/b> (convergence of E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edward, Siebel etc) is built on top of Oracle Fusion Middleware so now imagine<\/b> all these customers moving to Oracle Fusion Applications, who all they’ll need to manage Fusion Middleware & Fusion Applications.<\/p>\n

I can give you many more reasons but I am conscious of your time, and looking at above you might have understood that if you really want to grow, you really need to\u00a0expand your knowledge in Oracle Fusion Middleware<\/b> (SOA, WebLogic, OBIEE, WebCenter, etc …)<\/p>\n

What you should learn in Oracle Fusion Middleware\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Now you understand why you should learn <\/b><\/em>Oracle Fusion Middleware, next task is\u00a0what you need to learn<\/b><\/em> in Oracle FMW. This is where I think I really have upper hand than any one else including O…University because,<\/p>\n
