In Today’s<\/span> Post I am going to cover overview OID<\/span> to other LDAP<\/span> Server Integration. Other LDAP<\/span> Server can be Oracle’s Internet Directory or Sun’s iPlanet<\/span> or Microsoft Active Directory (These are standard directory Servers but you can integrate OID<\/span> with other third party LDAP<\/span> servers as well<\/span>)<\/p>\n

Two way \/ One way Integration <\/strong>
\nYou can integrate to synch<\/span> changes one way only i..e. from Other ldap<\/span> server OID<\/span> or both way i.e. OID<\/span> to other ldap<\/span> server & vice-versa<\/span>. (For Two way Integration you should have access to Update other LDAP<\/span> Server<\/span>)<\/p>\n

Various OID<\/span> Server Instances<\/strong>
\nUnder OID<\/span> there three services
\n– OIDLDAPD<\/span> Server which is used for normal directory processing
\n– OIDREPLD<\/span> Replication Server (To replicate entire OID<\/span> to other OID<\/span> server)
\n– ODISRV<\/span> Directory Integration & Provision Server<\/strong> (This is the server\/services used to integrate OID<\/span> Users\/Groups\/objects with third party LDAP<\/span> Servers<\/span>)<\/p>\n

By default OIDLDAPD<\/span> & ODISRV<\/span> Instances are started as you start OID<\/span> using OPMN<\/span> but you still need to start one more Instance of ODISRV<\/span> for Integrating OID<\/span> with other LDAP<\/span> Servers<\/em><\/p>\n

ODISRV<\/span> is by default<\/span> Up why I need additional ODISRV<\/span> Server ?<\/strong>
\nDefault ODISRV<\/span> is used by Provisioning Services i.e. to povision<\/span> users & groups from OID<\/span> to Oracle Applications i.e. Portal\/Workflow<\/span>\/Discoverer… So for Integrating OID<\/span> with third party ldap<\/span> server including OID<\/span> we need another Instance of ODISRV<\/span>.<\/p>\n

How to start ODISRV<\/span> & check related logs ?<\/strong>
\nYou can start additional ODISRV<\/span> instance using OIDCTL<\/span> command<\/p>\n

oidctl<\/span> connect=[tns<\/span>_alias] host=[oid<\/span>_hostname<\/span>] server=odisrv<\/span> instance=2 configset<\/span>=0 start<\/em><\/p>\n

to stop it use<\/p>\n

oidctl<\/span> connect=[tns<\/span>_alias] host=[oid<\/span>_hostname<\/span>] server=odisrv<\/span> instance=2 stop<\/em><\/p>\n

Logs related to above odisrv<\/span> process will be in $ORACLE_HOME\/ldap<\/span>\/log\/odisrv<\/span>0X.log where X is instance name.
\nOther log files will be at $ORACLE_HOME\/ldap<\/span>\/odi<\/span>\/log\/[profile_name].aud<\/span> & [profile_name].trc<\/span><\/p>\n

For Other things on OID<\/span> to OID<\/span> or other LDAP<\/span> server Integration (iPlanet<\/span>\/AD) and significance of audit & trace log files mentioned above including Synchronization Profiles in OID<\/span>..<\/p>\n
