I was working on Identity Management for quite some time & have seen lot of changes, From Netpoint<\/span> to Oblix<\/span>–COREid<\/span> to Oracle-Oblix<\/span> and now Oracle Identity Management , who knows what next. These changes in Identity Management are quite important and at same time required in rapidly changing Information era where management of Identity<\/strong> both from security and SoX<\/span> compilance<\/span> point of view is critical.<\/p>\n

In today’s post I am going to cover installation order of Oracle Access Manager (Formerly Oblix<\/span> COREid<\/span>)<\/p>\n

The order of installation is important .<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Installation of Access Manager
\n<\/strong>Access Manager consist of Identity System and Access System.<\/p>\n

Phase I – Installing Identity System<\/strong> (Identity Server, Web Pass)<\/p>\n

1. First component to be installed is Identity Server
\n<\/strong>–1.1 Start the installation<\/span> from \/software_location<\/strong>\/ Oracle_Access_Manager10_1_4_0_1_XXXX<\/span>_Identity_Server
\n–1.2Specify transport security Mode (open, simple, secure)
\n–1.3 Identify Identity Server
\n–1.4 Define communication detail (between Identity Server & Directory Server)
\n–1.5 define directory server details<\/p>\n

Webpass<\/span> can’t be installed on same directory as of Identity Server <\/em><\/p>\n

2. Then Install Web Pass<\/strong><\/em> (Each webpass<\/span> should have its own webserver<\/span>)
\n–2.1 choose install method GUI or command line and start installation from Oracle_Access_Manager_10_1_4_0_1_XXXXX<\/span>_WebPass<\/span>
\n–2.2 Specify transport security mode for webpass<\/span>
\n–2.3 Identify web pass configuration details
\n–2.4 Perform automatic Web Server configuration updates<\/p>\n

3. Next Setup Identity system<\/strong> <\/em>
\n–3.1 Start setup process from browser, http:\/\/server:port\/identity\/oblix<\/a>
\n–3.2 From Idm<\/span> System console, Specify directory server and data location —-3.3 Specify Object Class details
\n–3.4 Confirm Object class changes
\n–3.5 Configure Master administrator
\n–3.6 Complete identity system setup<\/p>\n

4. Add additional identity server instance<\/em><\/strong> (Optional Step, This can be done later as well)<\/p>\n

Phase II Installing Access System<\/strong> (Policy Manager, Access System, Web Gate)<\/p>\n

5. Install Policy Manager<\/em> <\/strong>Note: Policy manager should be installed on same webserver<\/span> and same directory level as WebPass<\/span>
\n–5.1 Choose install method from GUI or command line \/Oracle_Access_Manager_10_1_4_0_1XXXXX<\/span>_Policy_Manager
\n–5.2 Identify directory server and Policy data location
\n–5.3 Specify transport security mode
\n–5.4 Update web server configuration
\n–5.5 Finish your Policy manager configuration<\/p>\n

6. Next Step is Set up Policy Manager
\n<\/em><\/strong>–6.1 Start policy manager setup using http:\/\/servername:port\/access\/oblix<\/a> –6.2 Specify directory server details to store policy data
\n–6.3 Configuring Authentication Schemes
\n–6.4 Completing policy manager setup<\/p>\n

7. Install Access Server <\/em><\/strong>(Access server receives request from webgate<\/span> or access gate(custom) and queries LDAP<\/span> server for authentication,
\nauthorization<\/span> and auditing. Before installing access server you need to create instance for it from access console)
\n— 7.1 Adding an instance in access console (http:\/\/servername:port\/access\/oblix<\/a> )
\n–7.2 Install access server
\n—-7.2.1 Start Installation in GUI or command line mode
\n—-7.2.2 Specify transport security mode
\n—-7.2.3 Define Directory server communication details
\n—-7.2.4 Finish Access Server Installation
\n—-7.2.5 Add additional access server (optional)<\/p>\n

8. Install WebGate<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Webgate<\/span> is web server plug-in that communicates with Access Server for Authentication & Authorisation.
\n–8.1 Create WebGate<\/span> Instance from Access Console
\n–8.2 Associate WebGate<\/span> Instance with Access Server
\n–8.3 Install WebGate<\/span>
\n–8.4 Update Webgate<\/span> Web Server Configuration
\n–8.5 complete finishing task (Updating IIS<\/span> Server Config<\/span>, httpd<\/span>.conf<\/span> updates)<\/p>\n

You can install additional optional components like
\n<\/strong>
\n– Setting Up Access Manager with Virtual Directory
\n– Installing SNMP<\/span> Agent- Installing Additional language
\n– Installing Audit-to-Database component<\/p>\n

Oblix<\/span>–COREid<\/span> or Oracle Access Manager Architecture and key component’s (Installed above) inter communication coming soon…<\/span><\/p>\n
