Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)\u00a0is \u00a0– product from Sunopsis<\/a>\u00a0acquired by Oracle in 2006 and now part of Oracle Fusion Middleware Family.
\n1.<\/strong> ODI is\u00a0built on\u00a0E-LT<\/strong>(Extract , Load and Transform) Architecture.
\n2.<\/strong> Oracle Data Integrator 10g (10.1.3.5.0) suite includes three products<\/strong>
\na) Oracle Data Integrator<\/strong>
\nb) Oracle Data Quality<\/strong> and
\nc)\u00a0 Oracle Data Profiling<\/strong>
\n3. <\/strong>ODI uses Database as ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) engine thus eliminates requirement of proprietary ELT engine
\n4.<\/strong> Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition (ODIEE<\/strong>) is combination of ODI<\/strong> (Oracle Data Integrator) and OWB<\/strong> (Oracle Warehouse Builder)<\/p>\n

Oracle Data Integrator Architecture<\/u><\/strong>
\n\u00a0
\nOracle Data Integrator (ODI) consists of following products<\/p>\n

1. Repository<\/strong> –\u00a0is relational Databases to store objects used\/configured or developed by ODI. There are two type of Repository Master Repository<\/strong> (one and only one) and Work Repository<\/strong> (one or more)
\na) Master Repository<\/strong> – There is only one Master repository and used to store security information, topology information (servers..) and versions of the Objects. All Modules (designer, operator, topology & security<\/strong>) have access to master repository.
\nb) Work Repository<\/strong>– Work related objects (project objects) are stored in Work Repository like Models, Projects and run-time information. There could be multiple work repository per installation and all linked to single master repository. Work Repository is accessed by Designer\/Operator<\/strong> Module and run time agent<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2. Graphical Modules<\/strong> –
\na) Designer (designer.sh|bat)<\/strong>– All project development takes place in this module and this is the place where database and application metadata are imported and defined.
\nb) Operator (operator.sh|bat)<\/strong> – usually to monitor production ODI instance and shows execution logs, rows processed and execution statistics
\nc) Topology Manager (topology.sh|bat)<\/strong>– To register servers, schema and agents in master repository.
\nd) Security Manager (security.sh|bat)<\/strong> – To manage user profiles and their access privileges.<\/p>\n

3. Runtime Component \/ Scheduler Agent<\/strong> – scheduler agent coordinates execution of scenarios. Scheduler Agent retrieves code from execution repository and then requests database server, scripting engine or operating system server to execute that code.<\/p>\n

4. Metadata Navigator (MN)<\/strong>– is Web (JSP\/Servlet) application (available as oracledimn.war<\/strong>) that enables access to repository through Web Interface (Web Browser). MetaData Navigator (MN) requires Application Server and you deploy MN application oracledimn.war<\/strong> on pre-installed application server (Tom Cat, OAS, WebLogic). This is optional component.<\/p>\n

\n1.<\/strong> Download ODI 10.1.3.4 software from here<\/a>
\n
\n2.<\/strong> Unzip software
\n
\n3.<\/strong>Start Installation using $unizp_location\/ setup\/ <your_os>\/ Disk1\/ install\/ runInstaller<\/strong> or<\/p>\n

$unzip_location\/ setup\/ <your_os>\/ setup.sh <\/strong>for Unix or setup.exe<\/strong> for windows<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Select a product to install<\/strong>, options are
\n\u00a0 a)<\/strong> Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Data Profiling, Oracle Data Quality
\n\u00a0 b)<\/strong> Oracle Data Integrator
\n\u00a0 c)<\/strong> Oracle Data Profiling
\n\u00a0 d)<\/strong> Oracle Data Quality for Oracle Data Integrator<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> Select Installation Type<\/strong> , options are (depending on above selection)
\n\u00a0 a)<\/strong> Complete – covers client and server components for ODI Suite
\n\u00a0 b)<\/strong> Client – User Interfaces for ODI suite
\n\u00a0 c) <\/strong>Server – run time agent for ODI, Metabase and Servers for Data Profiling and Data Quality<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> Specify Oracle Home – location to install ODI software binaries (code set)<\/p>\n

7. <\/strong>Provide repository & Schedule Port and UserName password to administer Repository – This step is applicable only for option b), c) or d) from 4) Select a product to install<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> Run root.sh <\/strong>from root account (on Unix environment)<\/p>\n

\n3.<\/strong> Install JDBC Driver
\n4. <\/strong>Configure Metadata Navigator Connection to connect to your ODI repository (snps_login_work.xml<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

What next after installation ?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong>Create mater and work repository using $ORACLE_HOME\/oracledi\/bin\/repcreate.sh<\/strong>
\nand then access them using Topology Manager<\/strong> or Designer <\/strong>using $ORACLE_HOME\/oracledi\/bin\/\u00a0 topology.sh<\/strong> & designer.sh<\/strong> resp.<\/p>\n
