Last month I discussed 11g Identity Management (OID, DIP, OVD and OIF) installation here<\/a>\u00a0, today’s post covers issues encountered during 11g OID\/OVD installation on Linux.<\/p>\n

1. <\/strong>\u00a0Set hard file<\/strong> and soft file <\/strong>limit to at-least 4096<\/strong> for user installing 11g Identity Management (OID)<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\/etc\/security\/limits.conf<\/strong><\/p>\n

<os_user> hard nofile 4096
\n<os_user> soft nofile 4096<\/p>\n

If O.S. user installing 11g Identity Management is “oracle<\/strong>” then add entry like below in \/etc \/ security\/ limits.conf<\/strong><\/p>\n

oracle hard nofile 4096
\noracle soft nofile 4096<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. <\/strong>Database (Repository for IdM) should be minimum 10.2.0.4 (for 10g) or 11.1.0.6 (for 11g)<\/p>\n

3. <\/strong>Database processes should be at-least 500 , if not change it like<\/p>\n

SQL> alter system set processes=500 scope=both;<\/strong><\/p>\n

scope=both -> If you are using spfile<\/strong> .
\nmodify init<sid>.ora -> if you are using pfile<\/strong> .<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong>\u00a0 Unset LD_ASSUME_KERNEL<\/strong> else Installation will fail at instance creation (during start of OPMN)<\/p>\n

\nCause:An internal operation has failed: Error in starting opmn server
\nOperation aborted because of a system call failure or internal error

\n2. OID\/IdM configuration logs<\/strong>: $ORACLE_HOME\/ cfgtoollogs\/ cfgfw\/ CfmLogger_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SSPM.log where
\nORACLE_HOME<\/strong> is $MW_HOME\/Oracle_IDM1\u00a0\u00a0 (Oracle_IDM1 is default name , you can change this during installation)<\/p>\n

3. Oracle Internet Directory logs<\/strong>\u00a0 $ORACLE_INSTANCE\/ diagnostics\/ logs\/ OID\/ <component_name>\/ oid*.log<\/p>\n

4. OID Monitor Logs<\/strong>$ORACLE_INSTANCE\/ diagnostics\/ logs\/ OID\/ <component_Name>\/ oidmon-XXXX.log<\/p>\n
