After Installations when we try to configured Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer then we received one error\u00a0 &#8220;<strong>INST-07079 Could not connect to LDAP with the given credentials<\/strong>&#8220;<strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>Before jumping to\u00a0troubleshooting lets understand issue first <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is LDAP and why Portal, Forms, Reports connecting to LDAP Server ? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>LDAP which stands for <strong>L<\/strong>ightweight <strong>D<\/strong>irectory <strong>A<\/strong>ccess <strong>P<\/strong>rotocol is protocol to access directory servers (Example of directory server includes <strong>OID <\/strong>(Oracle Internet Directory) from Oracle, <strong>ADAM<\/strong> (Active Directory Application Mode) from Microsoft or <strong>iPlanet <\/strong>from Sun.<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#ff0000\">OID (Oracle Internet Directory) version 10g or 11g is <strong>mandatory<\/strong> in FMW 11g Installation (only for installation type Portal) more information <\/font><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/download.oracle.com\/docs\/cd\/E14571_01\/install.1111\/e10421\/install.htm#CHDGAHAH\"><font color=\"#ff0000\">here<\/font><\/a><font color=\"#ff0000\">\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#ff0000\">Note* <\/font>You\u00a0<strong>DON&#8217;T <\/strong>need OID for other 11g FMW products like SOA, WebCenter, UCM, Discoverer or\u00a0Forms &amp; Reports<\/p>\n<p>You enter OID details during Fusion Middleware 11g (<strong>Portal<\/strong>) configuration .<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/oid_login_1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/oid_login_1.jpg\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/oid_login.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is orcladmin in OID (Oracle Internet Directory) ?<br \/>\norcladmin<\/strong> is super user in OID, by default there are <strong>two orcladmin <\/strong>users in OID<br \/>\na) <strong>cn=orcladmin<\/strong><br \/>\nb) <strong>cn=orcladmin,cn=users,[realm]<\/strong>like cn=orcladmin,cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com (where realm for OID is mycompany.com)<\/p>\n<p>.<\/p>\n<p>How to check for error like <strong>INST-07079 Could not connect to LDAP with the given credentials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Check 1)<\/strong> &#8211; Check if <strong>OID<\/strong> server is installed and running on port mentioned in your Oracle FMW 11g configuration screen (as shown in image above) &#8211; <strong>For Windows<\/strong> you could use services, <strong>For Unix<\/strong> use &#8220;<strong>netstat -an | grep [oid_port]<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>.<br \/>\n<strong>Check 2) <\/strong>&#8211; Check there is no firewall between machine where you are running config.cmd (or config.sh) to machine where OID server is running (skip this test if both OID and config.cmd are on same machine)<\/p>\n<p><strong>telnet [oid_server_name] [oid_port]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Check 3) &#8211; Check if you can bind orcladmin user with password<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ldapbind -h [oid host] -p [port] -D &#8220;cn=orcladmin,cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com&#8221; -w [password]<\/p>\n<p>ldapbind -h [oid host] -p [port] -D &#8220;cn=orcladmin&#8221; -w [password]<br \/>\n<font color=\"#ff0000\">Note* Password for &#8220;cn=orcladmin&#8221; &amp; &#8220;cn=orcladmin,cn=users,dc=mycompany,dc=com&#8221; could be different (By default they are same and provided by user during OID installation)<\/font><\/p>\n<p>For more OID commands check <a
