In Oracle Applications professional Users can access professional forms via Applet<\/strong>in web browser.\u00a0 This Form Applet must run with in\u00a0Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Oracle bundles its own JVM\u00a0as Oracle Jinitiator<\/strong>. \u00a0This Jinitiator<\/strong> is available only for Windows Client and for Unix\/Linux you have to use Java Plug-In.\u00a0
\n\u00a0\u00a0 Till Oracle Apps 11i default JVM was Jinitiator<\/strong> but with Oracle Apps R12 default JVM under which form Applet run is J2SE Plug-In. <\/strong>If you are accessing Oracle Applications (11i\/R12), Apps will automatically prompt you to install Jinitiator\/J2SE Plug-in (If Jinitiator\/J2SE is not installed in client machine) but if you are accessing same Oracle Applications from Linux\/Unix\u00a0it does not prompt\u00a0to install plug-in\u00a0and you can’t apps forms from\u00a0Linux client<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0How to access Oracle Apps 11i\/R12 professional forms from Linux Client ?
\n<\/strong>In you\u00a0to\u00a0access forms from Linux client, Three steps are installed (You can skip first if Mozilla is installed on your Linux client)\u00a0—<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Install\u00a0Mozilla Browser
\n2.<\/strong> Install JRE<\/strong>\u00a0on client machine <\/strong>(JRE version to install will depend on Server configuration,\u00a0
\nIdentify which version of JRE you need on client machine
\n— For 11i\/R12 <\/font>: Login to server as application o.s. user (applmgr), set environment variable and run grep\u00a0plugin\u00a0$CONTEXT_FILE\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>(If you get output like 1.5.0_13 <\/strong>you need JRE 1.5.0 patchset 13, if its 1.5.0_10<\/strong> you need 1.5.0 patchset 10; or for 1.4.2_04<\/strong> you need 1.4.2 patchset 4\u00a0)
\n<\/font>
\n3.<\/strong> Use\u00a0JRE installed above on client machine in Browser (Mozilla)\u00a0Plugin\u00a0
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Install FireFox Mozilla
\n<\/strong>–Download Mozilla for Linux from\u00a0http:\/\/www.mozilla.com\/en-US\/firefox\/all.html#en<\/a>\u00a0 firefox-2.0.0.7.tar.gz<\/strong>
\n— “gunzip -d firefox-2.0.0.7.tar.gz” (You will get unzipped file with name as firefox-2.0.0.7.tar)
\n— Extract tar file as “tar -xvf\u00a0 firefox-2.0.0.7.tar”
\n— This will create directory called “firefox” which is under you will see executable called “firefox<\/strong>“; Use this executable to start FireFox on Linux machine.<\/p>\n

2. Install JRE on client machine<\/strong>
\n–Download JRE\u00a0 5.0 Update 10 (change this as per your server plugin version shown above; I am on 12.0.0 hence 1_5.0.10<\/font>)\u00a0\u00a0 for Linux from http:\/\/java.sun.com\/products\/archive\/j2se\/5.0_10\/index.html<\/a> \u00a0“jre-1_5_0_10-linux-i586-rpm.bin<\/strong>”
\n–“chmod 755 jre-1_5_0_10-linux-i586-rpm.bin”
\n–.\/jre-1_5_0_10-linux-i586-rpm.bin\u00a0 (You will be asked to accept license agreement , click enter and when prompted to accept license\u00a0enter Yes<\/strong>)
\n–This will install jre 1.5.10 in linux machine under \/usr\/java<\/strong>\u00a0 and plugin is installed under \/usr\/java\/jre1.5.0_10\/plugin\/i386\/ns7\/libjavaplugin_oji.so<\/strong><\/p>\n

Configure JRE Plug-in in browser
\n<\/strong>–Go to Mozilla FireFox plug-in directory which is $location_where_you_unziped_firefox_directory\/plugins and create soft link like
