Last week I discussed about OAM (Access Manager) 11g certification with E-Business Suite R12 for Single Sign-On\u00a0here<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0Under this certification OAM 11g should be with BP02 (Bundle Patch 02)\u00a0i.e. 11.1.1.3.2. \u00a0In this post I am going\u00a0cover\u00a0how to apply\u00a0patches in OAM 11g<\/strong>\u00a0and update OAM from 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.3.2 (10368022).<\/p>\n

I discussed about Bundle Patch in OAM 10g earlier\u00a0 here<\/a>\u00a0 In today’s post I am going to cover steps to apply patch in OAM 11g and prepare it for integration with E-Business Suite R12.<\/p>\n

Patches in Oracle Access Manager are grouped together and named as bundle patch<\/strong> (BP). These bundle patches are specific to installer release which means,\u00a0there is\u00a0BP01, BP02 … BP0N for OAM 10.1.4.2;<\/strong> similarly there\u00a0is Bundle Patch 01, 02 for OAM 10.1.4.3 and 11.1.1.3 resp.
\nAs of today (3 May 2011) latest available BP for OAM 11.1.1.3 is on BP02 (10368022), OAM 10.1.4.3 is BP07 (11682261) and OAM 10.1.4.2 is BP11 (8829778) . For more information refer metalink note 736372.1 OAM Bundle Patch Release History<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Key points to install OAM 11.1.1.3 BP02 (10368022)<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Bundle Patch (BP) in OAM 11g are applied using opatch<\/strong> utility in ORACLE_HOME\/OPatch\u00a0(where ORACLE_HOME should be set to OAM 11g software i.e. Oracle_IDM1\/2<\/font>)<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> You should be\u00a0on at least OAM 11.1.13.0 or OAM 11gR1 BP01 i.e. 11.1.1.3.1<\/p>\n

3. <\/strong>OAM 11g BP02 i.e. 11.1.1.3.2\u00a0is\u00a0Server Side patch only i.e. No patching for WebGate<\/strong> or AccessGate<\/strong> is required (This is applicable just for BP02 as of today<\/font>)<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> If you are planning to apply BP02 on OAM server with BP01\u00a0already applied i.e.\u00a011.1.1.3.1, then there\u00a0is no need to remove BP01 from system (BP02 can be applied on top of BP01<\/font>)<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> Use opatch<\/strong> to install OAM bundle patch (Note that there are two opatch, one in each ORACLE_HOME\u00a0under MW_HOME i.e. one in oracle_common and second in Oracle_IDM1. Your ORACLE_HOME\u00a0environment should be set to Oracle_IDM1\/2 where OAM is installed<\/font>) .<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> If you are not familiar with oraInventory <\/strong>then learn more about oraInventory here<\/a><\/p>\n

7. <\/strong>If you use opatch with flag auto<\/strong> (-auto) then make sure Node Manager<\/strong>is configured and you can start OAM server from WebLogic Console (set StartScriptEnabled to true in nodemanager.properties<\/font>). With option -auto, opatch bounces OAM Managed Server (Admin Server and Node Manager should be running<\/font>).<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong>\u00a0 List Oracle Access Manager (OAM)\u00a0version and applied patches using \u00a0$ORACLE_HOME\/ OPatch\/ opatch lsinventory<\/strong> (where Oracle Home is pointing to directory in which OAM software is installed<\/font>) Make sure that you get correct output like

9<\/strong>. Perform prereq. steps mentioned in\u00a0READ ME<\/strong>\u00a0of patch (10368022)<\/p>\n

10<\/strong>. Shutdown OAM Managed server (This is required only if you are applying patch without -auto mode<\/font>)<\/p>\n

11<\/strong>. Apply patch using opatch apply<\/strong><\/p>\n

12<\/strong>. Test patch by running “opatch lsinventory<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

You should see output like
