Oracle released 11g patch set 4 (11.1.1.5)\u00a0for Oracle fusion middleware products on 6th May 2011<\/a>. Below are steps & guidelines for installing ECM 11g PS4 on OEL 5 , 64 bit OS.<\/p>\n

Few Pointers<\/strong><\/u>:-<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> For 11 .2.0.1 database installation, ensure you follow the guide here<\/a><\/strong><\/u> for correct kernel parameter settings & open file descriptors.<\/p>\n

For missing RPMs<\/strong> , the easiest way to manage them is to use yum and Oracle’s free yum server. Yum will automatically resolve any cascading dependencies. Check http:\/\/public-yum.oracle.com\/<\/a> for details<\/p>\n

2) <\/strong>On 64 bit OS, you need to install Java separately before you install weblogic using jar file. Java versions certified with Weblogic 10.3.5<\/strong> ,\u00a0 64 bit is:<\/p>\n

JRockit\u00a0 Update 24 R28.1.3+
\nSun JDK 1.6.0_24+<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) <\/strong>Each ECM products need to be deployed on separate Managed servers. You cannot deploy Oracle UCM, Oracle IBR, Oracle I\/PM, Oracle IRM, or Oracle URM to a Managed Server or cluster that already has another application deployed.<\/p>\n

4) <\/strong>If you want a remote deployment of Site Studio<\/strong> for External applications web site, you can select Oracle UCM – SSXA Server<\/strong>(introduced in ECM 11.1.1.4) to create an Oracle WebLogic domain with a Managed Server that has the files required to run the web site.<\/p>\n

5) <\/strong>On 64 bit systems, When you configure weblogic domain , on ” Configure Server Start Mode and JDK<\/strong>” screen ,select the\u00a0 JDK\u00a0 you installed separately.<\/p>\n

6) <\/strong>By default, ECM uses weblogic server embedded\u00a0 LDAP as identity store. For production, it is recommended to use external LDAP like OID,Microsoft AD,IPlanet, Novel etc.<\/p>\n

High Level steps for ECM 11g Ps4 installation<\/strong><\/u>:-<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Install Database.<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Create schema for ECM using RCU 11.1.1.5, download RCU from here<\/a><\/p>\n

3. <\/strong>Install 64 bith Java version certified with 10.3.5.<\/p>\n

4<\/strong>. Install jar file WebLogic Server 10.3.5 (Download from here<\/a>) .To Install issue below command:-<\/p>\n

Set your JAVA_HOME environment variable to JDK 1.6 (installed in step 3)<\/p>\n

JAVA_HOME\/bin\/java -jar wls1035_generic.jar\u00a0 <\/strong>(For hybrid JDK like HP-PA, HPIA, and Solaris64 use flag -d64<\/font>)<\/p>\n

This will create Middleware Home & Weblogic Home.<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> Install Enterprise Content Management (ECM) 11g – Installer will create binaries for UCM, IBR, IPM, IRM and\u00a0URM<\/p>\n

When you run installer,it will prompt for JRE location,give the location where you installed the java in step 3.<\/p>\n

.\/runInstaller -jreLoc [JAVA_HOME]<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. <\/strong>Configure Weblogic domain for Enterprise Content Management (ECM) by running config.sh<\/strong>\/cmd<\/strong> under $ECM_ORACLE_HOME\/common\/bin.<\/p>\n

This step will create the admin server & required managed servers.<\/p>\n

7. <\/strong>Perform Post Installation Steps for UCM, IBR, IPM, IRM and URM as mentioned here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Issues Encountered<\/strong><\/u>:-<\/p>\n

Issue 1<\/strong><\/u>:- While installation of ECM, when Oracle Installer checks for kernel parameters, it fails because of hardnofiles and softnofiles default values:<\/p>\n

<<<<<Checking for hardnofiles=4096; hardnofiles=1024. Failed<<<<<\/p>\n

<<<< Checking for softnofiles=4096; softnofiles=1024. Failed <<<<<\/p>\n

Solution:<\/strong>
\na.<\/strong>Add the line below to \/etc\/pam.d\/login and \/etc\/pam.d\/sshd :
