I recently implemented Oracle Identity Federation<\/strong> (OIF) as Service Provider<\/strong> (SP) integrated with Oracle Access Manager<\/strong> (OAM) as SP Integration Module<\/strong>. For basics of OIF SP\/IdP click here<\/a>. OIF SP with IdP is integrated using linked federation<\/strong> (attribute employeeNumber<\/strong> on IdP is linked to uid<\/strong> on SP). To further complicate this integration OIF as SP is integrated with two Identity Providers<\/strong> so resource protected in OAM (via OIF SP module) should be able to\u00a0use\u00a0either IdP1 or IdP2 .<\/p>\n

I’ll start with installation<\/strong> and configuration<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>of Oracle Identity Federation (OIF) in this port and cover remaining tasks (configuring OIF SP\/IdP, OIF with OAM and protecting a resource using multiple <\/span>IdP<\/span>) in future posts.<\/p>\n

.<\/p>\n

OIF Installation Key Points<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> OIF software is part of Oracle Identity Management (IDM<\/strong>) software (This software also contains OID and OVD<\/span>)<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Latest version of OIF (as of April 2012) is 11.1.1.6 where 11.1.1.2 <\/strong>and\u00a011.1.1.6 is full software<\/strong> (11.1.1.3\/4\/5 and \u00a0are patch-set). For 11.1.1.3\/4\/5 you must first install 11.1.1.2 and then patch it to specific required version i.e. 11.1.1.3\/4\/5<\/span>. For 11.1.1.6 version install directly 11.1.1.6. [Thanks Arshad for pointing this out]<\/span><\/p>\n

3. <\/strong>OIF (IDM software) requires weblogic, so install WebLogic<\/a> (For 11.1.1.6 OIF install 10.3.6 WebLogic and for 11.1.1.5 OIF install 10.3.5 WebLogic<\/span>)<\/p>\n

4. <\/strong>During IDM 11.1.1.2 installation, select option Install Software- Do Not Configure<\/strong> . You should then apply patchset \u00a011.1.1.3\/4\/5<\/strong>\u00a0 (depending on which version you need)<\/p>\n

For 11.1.1.6 , you can either \u00a0select “Install and Configure<\/strong>” or “Install Software Do not Configure”<\/strong> (For high avabilability select Install Software Do not Configure<\/strong>)<\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> OIF User\/Message store<\/strong> and Configuration<\/strong> can be stored in Database<\/strong> . If you are planning to use Database to store User\/Message data and configuration file, then create OIF schema<\/strong> in database using Repository Creation Utility (RCU)<\/a><\/p>\n

\n6.<\/strong> After installation of WebLogic & then Identity Management Software (OIF), start OIF configuration<\/strong> from $ORACLE_HOME\/bin\/config.sh<\/strong> (here ORACLE_HOME is directory in which you installed idm software<\/span>)<\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> Select Oracle Identity Federation<\/strong> from list of components<\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> For OIF you get two options to configure BASIC<\/strong> or Advanced<\/strong><\/p>\n

a) Basic<\/strong> – Use this to configure;
\nUser Data Store (NONE<\/strong>), Federation Data Store (NONE<\/strong>), Authentication Engine (JAAS<\/strong>), Session Store (MEMORY<\/strong>), Transient Message Data Store (MEMORY<\/strong>), Configuration Store (FILE<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

b) Advanced<\/strong> – Use this to configure;
\nUser Data Store (NONE, LDAP<\/strong>, RDBMS)
\nFederation Data Store (NONE, LDAP<\/strong>, RDBMS, XML)
\nAuthentication Type (JAAS or LDAP<\/strong>)
\nUser Session Store (MEMORY, RDBMS<\/strong>)
\nTransient Message Data Store (MEMORY, RDBMS<\/strong>)
\nConfigure Store (FILE, RDBMS<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Note: If you select option BASIC<\/strong> then you don’t need Database<\/strong> & LDAP<\/strong> Server where as for Advanced you need LDAP Server<\/strong> and Database<\/strong>. I am using OID as LDAP Server.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note: These configuration (Autehntication Type, User Data Store, Federation\/Message store..) can be changed later as well using Fusion Middleware Control (\/em)<\/span><\/p>\n

9.<\/strong> Select Advanced<\/strong> and then select Authentication Type<\/strong>, User Store<\/strong>, Federation Store<\/strong>, User Session Store<\/strong>, Message Store<\/strong>, and Configuration Store<\/strong> in OIF as shown below

10.<\/strong> In specifiy Authentication LDAP Details enter LDAP Server (I am using OID as ldap server where innowave21 is server where OID is running and 3063 is LDAP port, cn=orcladmin is OID superuser). When OIF is configured as IdP and LDAP as authentication engine then uid<\/strong> will be used as login attribute<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Change Base DN<\/strong> from dc=com<\/strong> to your LDAP server domain (in OID this is Realm defined during OID configuration)<\/span><\/p>\n
