When you integrate OAM, OIM, OID, OAAM so that<\/p>\n

a)<\/strong> OAM is used as Single Sign-On<\/strong> for user login to OIM
\nb)<\/strong> OAAM is used to strong authentication<\/strong> (like multi-factor authentication, One Time Password – OTP<\/strong>, Knowledge Based Authentication – KBA<\/strong>)
\nc)<\/strong> OID is used as user store for OAM & OAAM. Users between OIM & OID are synced using libOVD<\/strong> or OVD<\/strong> . More on libOVD <\/strong>in OIM\u00a0here<\/a> and\u00a0here<\/a>
\nd)<\/strong> OIM is used for password\u00a0reset<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0account unlock<\/strong><\/p>\n

OIM<\/strong> – Oracle Identity Manager
\nOAM<\/strong> – Oracle Access Manager
\nOAAM<\/strong> – Oracle Adaptive Access Manager
\nOID<\/strong> – Oracle Internet Directory
\nWebLogic<\/strong> – Application Server that runs OIM, OAM & OAAM (OIM, OAM, OAAM and ODSM are Java applications where as\u00a0<\/span>OID is C application and does not need Application Server<\/span>)<\/p>\n

For locking an account (because of failed attempts<\/strong>) each component (OID, OIM, OAM, OAAM, and WebLogic) has different setting and different value<\/p>\n

1) Account Lockout value in Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) \u00a0<\/strong><\/span>(Default value 10):<\/strong><\/p>\n

In OIM this value is defined by system property Maximum Number of Login Attempts<\/strong> (XL.MaxLoginAttempts<\/strong>) and default value is 10<\/strong>. i.e. in Standalone OIM environment (when authentication happens via OIM Engine<\/span>), OIM will lock user after 1o failed attempts .<\/p>\n

In OIM when user gets locked, you should see “Unlock Account<\/strong>” (Currently this shows account not<\/strong><\/span> locked in OIM, as you can see option to lock account<\/span>)<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0Account Lockout value in Oracle Access Manager (OAM)\u00a0<\/strong>(Default value 5)<\/span> :<\/strong><\/p>\n

In OAM, this value is defined in OAM configuration file oam-config.xml<\/strong> by setting MaxRetryLimit<\/strong> and value is set to 5 . When user login via OAM \u00a0engine with wrong password 5 times then OAM will update two attributes obLoginTryCount<\/strong> and obLockOutTime<\/strong> (Ob stands from Oblix , company that Oracle acquired in 2005 and renamed product as OAM<\/span>)<\/p>\n

3) Account Lockout in Oracle Internet Directory (OID)<\/strong>\u00a0(Default value 10)<\/span> :<\/p>\n

In OID this value is defined by password policy \u00a0DN\u00a0cn=default, cn=pwdPolicies, cn=Common, cn=Products, cn=OracleContext, dc=[domain], dc=[domain]<\/span><\/strong> with default value 10 . (From 10.1.4.3 OID onwards you can define multiple password policy in OID<\/span>)<\/p>\n
