Operating System and required Utility<\/u><\/strong><\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Windows Server 2003<\/strong> (all edition) is\u00a0ONLY<\/strong> supported version for installing Oracle Apps (E-Business Suite) R12\/12i on windows. Download windows server 2003<\/strong> \u00a0trial version from here<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"windows<\/a><\/p>\n

You need to image files X13-05665.img<\/strong> & X13-05463.img<\/strong>\u00a0 (After download change extension from .img<\/strong> to .iso<\/strong> and burn them as boot-able CD<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Note use boot-able option while burning CD.<\/font><\/p>\n

2.<\/strong>Install windows server 2003 on bare machine (no operating system) or install it on existing operating system (windows, Unix, Linux) using vmwware<\/strong>\u00a0as Guest Operating system.<\/p>\n

You can install windows server 2003<\/strong>as VMware “guest operating system” on “Windows XP” or “Windows Vista” Host Operating system.<\/font><\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> You need to download & install Visual C++ 2005<\/strong> (VC ++ 8.0) which is part of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (Professional or Standard Edition).

\n4.<\/strong> You need either<\/strong> MKS Toolkit<\/strong> (9.1 and higher) or Cygwin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Download MKS Toolkit<\/strong> from here http:\/\/www.mkssoftware.com\/support\/patches.asp<\/a><\/p>\n

Download Cygwin http:\/\/www.cygwin.com\/setup.exe<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

We will use cygwin for demo R12\/12i installation on windows server 2003<\/font><\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> If you are using MKS toolkit<\/strong>, you also<\/strong> need GNU Make 3.81<\/strong> or higher (patch 5897842<\/strong>from metalink)<\/p>\n

Apps R12\/12i Software <\/u><\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

Next step is to download or order (Y<\/font>es you can order Oracle Apps 11i\/R12\/12i software for 60$ or 30\u00a3 online<\/font>)\u00a0Apps R12 (12.0.4) software<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> Download Oracle Apps R12\/12i (12.0.4 version) for windows\u00a0from http:\/\/edelivery.oracle.com<\/a> -> Continue -> (Enter Details) -> Continue -> select E-Business Suite<\/strong> & platform Microsoft Windows 32 Bit<\/strong><\/p>\n

From next screen select as shown in screenshot <\/strong>(Select NLS if you wish to install language other than American US<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Finally download files till part number V11832-01<\/strong><\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> Order R12\/12i Disk from http:\/\/oraclestore.oracle.com<\/a>
\nSelect Site -> Click on Tab “Media Packs<\/strong>” on top ->\u00a0<\/p>\n

Select your Operating system (Microsoft Windows) -> select “Oracle E-Business Suite Applications Release 12.0.4 Media Pack<\/strong> for Microsoft Windows<\/strong> (32-bit)”<\/p>\n

\u00a0 This will cost 60 $ (For UK customers its 30.47 \u00a3) -> Click on “Add to cart” and Click on “Checkout”\u00a0 (You should create account on oraclestore first, if you don’t have one)<\/p>\n

Things good to know<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Do not install apps under any directory with spaces in it like “Program Files”
\n2.<\/strong> There is no need to install JDK on windows machine (It comes as part of R12)
\n3.<\/strong> Installation R12 on windows is not supported using network disk (always use local disk)
\n4.<\/strong>Donot use compressed disk (windows) to install Apps R12\/12i\u00a0
\n5.<\/strong> For R12\/12i VISION you need approx. 161 GB (133GB +28GB) and for Fresh Install 73 GB (45GB + 28GB) disk space.
\n6.<\/strong> You can install R12\/12i with 2GB memory <\/strong>but\u00a0its good to have\u00a04GB memory<\/strong><\/p>\n
