After downloading Siebel Software<\/a><\/strong> and \u00a0creating Siebel Image<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>next part is to\u00a0\u00a0install Siebel Enterprise Server<\/strong> using this Siebel Image<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There are two software that you must install<\/p>\n

a) Siebel Enterprise Server<\/strong> – SES (consists of four modules Gateway Name Server<\/strong>, Siebel Server<\/strong>, EAI Conector<\/strong>, and Database Configuration Utilities<\/strong>)
\nb) Siebel Web Server Extension<\/strong> – SWSE<\/p>\n

This post covers steps to install Siebel Enterprise Server<\/strong> (Siebel Web Server Extension – SWSE installation in next post<\/span>) .<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Install Siebel Enterprise Server\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Login as\u00a0user (siebel<\/strong> in my case) that you used to create Siebel Image (This user will own Sibel Software<\/span>).<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Cretae file \/etc\/oraInst.loc<\/strong> with entry like (Location \/etc\/oraInst.loc is for Linux, more here<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0)<\/p>\n

inventory_loc=\/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/oraInventory<\/span>
\n inst_group=oinstall<\/span><\/p>\n

Here directory\u00a0\/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/oraInventory<\/strong> will hold Oracle Inventory<\/strong> and oinstall<\/strong> is group of user siebel<\/strong> that will own software. To know more about oraInventory <\/strong>click\u00a0here<\/a><\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> Create directory \/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/8.1.1.0<\/strong>\u00a0(I am going to install SES software<\/strong> under directory \/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/8.1.1.0.0\/ses<\/strong> aka SES_HOME<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> Start installer<\/strong> with siebel user<\/p>\n

[Siebel_Image]\/8.1.1.10\/Unix\/Server\/Siebel_Enterprise_Server\/Disk1\/install
\n.\/runInstaller -oneclick -invPtrLoc \/etc\/oraInst.loc<\/strong><\/p>\n

As I created Siebel Image under \/stage\/oracle\/siebel\/8.1.1.10\/Siebel_Install_Image<\/p>\n

cd \/stage\/oracle\/siebel\/8.1.1.10\/Siebel_Install_Image\/8.1.1.10\/Linux\/Server\/Siebel_Enterprise_Server\/Disk1\/install<\/span>
\n.\/runInstaller -oneclick -invPtrLoc \/etc\/oraInst.loc<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When prompted
\na)<\/strong> Provide SES_HOME<\/strong> as \/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/8.1.1.0.0\/ses
\nb)<\/strong> Select all four modules<\/strong> i.e. – Gateway Name Server, Siebel Server, EAI Conector, and Database Configuration Utilities<\/p>\n

After installation<\/strong> under SES_HOME<\/strong> directory you will see directory structure like<\/p>\n

Where<\/p>\n

a)<\/strong> Directory \/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/8.1.1.0.0\/ses<\/strong> is called as $SES_HOME<\/strong> or $SIEBEL_ROOT<\/strong>
\nb)<\/strong> Directory \/oracle\/apps\/siebel\/8.1.1.0.0\/ses\/gtwysrvr<\/strong> is called as $SIEBEL_GATEWAY_ROOT<\/strong><\/p>\n

This completes installation of \u00a0Siebel Enterprise Server<\/strong>, In next post we will install Siebel Web Server Extension<\/strong><\/p>\n
