In this post I am going to discuss<strong> lessons learned and key points you must know<\/strong> when configuring <strong>Oracle\u00a0Fusion Middleware<\/strong> <strong>monitoring<\/strong> using <strong>OEM 12c<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> In order to monitor Fusion Middleware components (Identity Management, SOA, OHS, WebCenter, OBIEE etc) using OEM 12c, Fusion Middleware application must be configured with <strong>Fusion Middleware control<\/strong> (Fusion Middleware Control is J2EE application &#8220;<strong>em<\/strong>&#8221; deployed on <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/index.php\/2008\/07\/24\/domain-administration-managed-server-cluster-in-oracle-weblogic\/\">Admin Server of WebLogic Domain for Fusion Middleware<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Fusion Middleware Control EM is different from OEM 12c and for each WebLogic Domain (where Fusion Middleware application is deployed) there is separate Fusion Middleware Control. For OEM 12c to discover all targets in Fusion Middleware (SOA, WebLogic, OBIEE, OID, OVD, OIM, OAM, WebCenter etc), Fusion Middleware Control should be configured to monitor Fusion Middleware component. (This is configured by default during Fusion Middleware configuration)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_control_1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5781\" title=\"fusion_middleware_control_1\" src=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_control_1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"419\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_control_1.png 450w, https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_control_1-300x279.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> If Fusion Middleware WebLogic domain doesn&#8217;t contain<strong> Fusion Middleware Control Application<\/strong> (\/em) then <strong>extend WebLogic Domain<\/strong> to include Fusion Middleware Control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WebLogic Console<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>Deployments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_em.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5782\" title=\"fusion_middleware_em\" src=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_em.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"345\" height=\"458\" srcset=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_em.png 345w, https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/fusion_middleware_em-225x300.png 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong> If your fusion middleware component includes <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/index.php\/2009\/07\/28\/oracle-fusion-middleware-11g-concepts-for-apps-dbas\/\">SYSTEM component (like OHS, OID, OVD, OBIEE)<\/a> and are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>not<\/strong><\/span> registered with Fusion Middleware Control then use <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/index.php\/2009\/09\/15\/fusion-middleware-11g-how-to-register-oracle-instance-with-webogic-server-opmnctl\/\">OPMNCTL REGISTERINSTANCE<\/a>\u00a0to register OPMN with WebLogic Domain<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong> Ensure that Fusion Middleware Control (\/em) is working fine (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">on starting\/stopping services, correct status of component is displayed in Fusion Middleware Control<\/span>) before you start configuring Fusion Middleware with OEM 12c.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong> If Fusion Middleware Application is deployed on more than one host (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">For Highly Available Fusion Middleware Application there is always more than one Host<\/span>) then deploy OEM Agent on all hosts where Fusion Middleware components are installed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong> If there is firewall between OMS Server (server side of OEM 12c) and Fusion Middleware Host (where OEM Agents are deployed) then<\/p>\n<p><strong>a) OEM Agent \u00a0port<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">default value 3872<\/span>) should be allowed from OMS Servers (innowave21) to OEM Agent (innowave12) in firewall.<br \/>\n<strong>b) Repository URL port<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">default value 4900<\/span>) must be allowed from OEM Agent (innowave12) to OMS server (innowave21) in fireall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>emctl status agent \u00a0<\/strong>(Look for Agent URL and Repository URL)<\/p>\n<p>____<\/p>\n<p>[oem@innowave12 bin]$ .\/emctl status agent<br \/>\nOracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 2<br \/>\nCopyright (c) 1996, 2012 Oracle Corporation. In such cases, Repository URL should use Load Balancer URL (and not point to individual OMS server )<\/p>\n<p><strong>8.<\/strong> If your fusion middleware component includes <a href=\"https:\/\/onlineappsdba.com\/index.php\/2009\/07\/28\/oracle-fusion-middleware-11g-concepts-for-apps-dbas\/\">SYSTEM component (like OHS, OID, OVD, OBIEE)<\/a> 11.1.1.6 or lower and Service Status in OEM 12c is not displayed correct (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">showing service available where as in actual service is down<\/span>) then ensure that following patches are applied to Fusion Middleware Control<\/p>\n<p><strong>a) 13490778<\/strong> applied to oracle_common in middleware home (MW_HOME) where Fusion Middleware is deployed<br \/>\n<strong>b) 13055259<\/strong> applied to ORACLE_HOME where fusion middleware component is installed<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.<\/strong> If status of fusion middleware target is<strong> PENDING<\/strong> in OEM 12c (<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">but displayed correctly on Fusion Middleware Control<\/span>) then set blackout for target and unset it after 5 minutes.
