VC++ Installation<\/font><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Download VC++ redistributable package from here <\/a>\u00a0 or full version ( I used 90 days trial pack file name En_vs_2005_Pro_90_Trial.img ) <\/strong>from Microsoft site.<\/p>\n

To extract En_vs_2005_Pro_90_Trial.img <\/strong>file, use software like undisker from http:\/\/undisker.com<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Start VC++ installation from <unzip_location>\\vs<\/strong>\\setup.exe<\/strong><\/p>\n

Install R12\/12.0.4<\/font><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Once you unzip all R12 software (zip files), you should see five directories containing software\u00a0
\n–startCD<\/strong> (Installer to start installation)
\n–oraDB<\/strong> (Database Software, 10.2.0.3 for 12.0.4)
\n<\/font>—<\/strong><\/font>oraAppDB<\/strong> (Vision Data)
\n–oraAS<\/strong> (Technology Stack for application tier 10.1.2 Forms\/Reports & 10.1.3 Web)
\n<\/font>–oraApps <\/strong>(Software to lay APPL_TOP)<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Go to command prompt and start installation <R12_Software>\\startCD\\ Disk1\\rapidwiz \\rapidwiz.cmd<\/strong>
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Using above screen\u00a0you mention that you are installing R12<\/strong> and\u00a0NOT upgrading<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Using above screen you select port pool<\/strong>. If you select port 0, then access apps after installation using http:\/\/ servername . domainame : 8000 (For port pool 3 use web server port as 8003)<\/font><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

In above screen you specify base directory<\/strong> (Directory under which database tier files are going to install) .<\/p>\n

Database Type<\/strong> in above screen is Fresh Database<\/strong>, If you need Vision Instance select default value VISION<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Special attention on above screen, In this screen you specify Unix Toolkit<\/strong>(cygwin\/mkstoolkit) &\u00a0Visual Studio directory<\/strong>(vc++) location.<\/p>\n

I installed
\n—cygwin<\/strong> under e:\\cygwin<\/strong> hence I used here e:\\cygwin\\bin<\/strong>
\n—VC++<\/strong> under e:\\msvs<\/strong> hence I use here e:\\msvs\\VC<\/strong> (extra care for VC<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

As per above screen that Validation failed at “System Utilities<\/strong>” , click on !<\/strong> mark to see which command\u00a0failed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

As per above screen, which<\/strong> command is available in e:\\cygwin\\bin<\/strong> but gnumake<\/strong> is not available (check cygwin<\/strong> installation again carefully, part II R12 installation).\u00a0After creating gnumake<\/strong> in e:\\cygwin\\bin<\/strong> directory click OK<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Check Validation screen one more time, All pre-install<\/strong> steps are successful this time.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally click on OK<\/strong><\/p>\n

Depending on CPU and memory on your server\u00a0Installation can take\u00a0couple of\u00a0hours.<\/p>\n
