I discussed about IAM<\/strong> (OAM<\/strong>, OIM<\/strong>, OES<\/strong>, OAAM<\/strong>) 11gR2 PS2 (11.1.2.2<\/strong>) availability here<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0and changes introduced<\/strong> in installation of 11gR2 PS2 (11.1.2.2)\u00a0here<\/a><\/p>\n

In this post I am going to cover new feature<\/strong> introduced in Oracle Access Manager<\/strong>\u00a0i.e. to deploy OAM in high availability<\/strong> (Active-Active<\/strong>) across Data Centres<\/strong>. For list of all the new features<\/strong> introduced in OAM 11gR2 PS2 click here<\/a>.\u00a0Till before 11gR2 PS2 (i.e. 11gR1 and 11gR2 PS1) you could deploy OAM in Active-Active within <\/strong>data centre but only in\u00a0Active-Passive across <\/strong>data centres.<\/p>\n

From OAM 11gR2 PS2<\/strong> (11.1.2.2) you could use one of the three deployment model<\/strong> across data centres<\/p>\n

1. Active – Active Mode<\/strong> : OAM cluster in Data Centre 1 and Data Centre 2 run Active – Active<\/strong> mode and both OAM clusters can be used at any given time (as shown in image above)<\/p>\n

2. Active – Hot Standby Mode<\/strong> : OAM cluster in Data Centre 1 is active<\/strong> and OAM cluster in Data Centre 2 is running but not actively used<\/strong> until data centre 1 goes down.<\/p>\n

3. Active – Standby Passive Mode<\/strong> : OAM cluster in Data Centre 1 is active<\/strong> and OAM cluster in Data Centre 2 is down<\/strong>. OAM cluster in data centre 2 can be bought up within reasonable time, if OAM cluster in primary data centre fails.
\nKey Points when deploying OAM across data centres in Active-Active mode<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> The WebLogic Server domain<\/strong><\/a> (containing OAM cluster) will NOT<\/strong> span across data centres. As shown in figure above, there will be two OAM WebLogic domains, one in Data Centre 1 and second OAM domain in data centre 2.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> You will have two WebLogic domains each containing 1 OAM cluster<\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> Install (or use an existing OAM) and configure OAM domain in data centre 1 and install\/configure (or clone) OAM in data centre 2 . Then use T2P<\/strong> (Test2Prod<\/strong>) tools to configure syncing of configuration and policies.<\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> WebGates<\/strong> in data center 1 will have Primary Server List<\/strong> pointing to OAM cluster in data center 1 and Secondary Server List<\/strong>\u00a0pointing to OAM cluster in data center 2<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> WebGates in data center2 will have Primary Server List<\/strong> pointing to OAM cluster in data center 2 and Secondary Server List<\/strong> pointing to OAM cluster in data center 1<\/p>\n

5.<\/strong> One of the OAM cluster is designated as master<\/strong> while other OAM cluster as clone<\/strong>, any modification to policies or configurations must be done on master OAM cluster<\/span>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

6.<\/strong> Other OAM cluster (in data centre 2) is designated as CLONE<\/strong> using WLST addPartnerForMultiDataCentre<\/strong><\/p>\n

7.<\/strong> T2P (Test to Prod) tools and utilities<\/a>\u00a0(like copyBinary<\/strong> , pasteBinary<\/strong>,\u00a0copyConfig, pasteConfig<\/strong> more here<\/a>) are used to create OAM environment marked as CLONE<\/strong><\/p>\n

8.<\/strong> Periodically syncing of data (policies\/configuration) from Master<\/strong> to Clone<\/strong> happen using replication REST API<\/a><\/p>\n
