This post covers Oracle Access Manager<\/strong> (OAM) Architecture\u00a0<\/strong>\/\u00a0components<\/strong>\u00a0from our Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 11g training<\/a><\/p>\n

Oracle Access Manager<\/strong> 11g consists of<\/p>\n

1. Database for OAM<\/strong> : Database hosts OAM’s metadata<\/strong> and policies<\/strong> defined by Administrators to secure business application. You use RCU <\/a>to create OAM schema.
\n.
\n2. LDAP Server<\/strong> : This is Directory Server usually Oracle Internet Directory<\/a> (OID), Oracle Unified Directory<\/a>\u00a0(OUD) or Microsoft Active Directory where users and groups are stored . By default OAM uses WebLogic’s<\/a> embedded LDAP server but you change that to external LDAP mentioned earlier .<\/p>\n

3. OAM Domain Admin Server<\/strong> : OAM is configured\u00a0in WebLogic Domain\u00a0(Admin & Managed Server)<\/a>. Admin Server hosts WebLogic Console<\/strong> and OAM’s Admin Console<\/strong> (GUI to manage OAM artefacts like Application Domain, Policies, WebGate Instance etc). We cover these OAM Artefacts on Day 4 of OAM Training<\/a><\/p>\n

4. OAM Domain Managed Server<\/strong> : OAM Managed Server is run time component that acts as Policy Decision Point<\/strong> (PDP). WebGate<\/a><\/strong> (Policy Enforcement Point<\/strong> – PEP) connects to this server to get policy details for a resource.<\/p>\n

5. Application<\/strong> : This is the resource<\/strong> that is protected by OAM. You can optionally configure OAM Agent on application.<\/p>\n

6. WebServer<\/strong> : WebServers like OHS\/Apache acts as reverse proxy to for\u00a0Application and Policy Enforcement Point<\/strong> (WebGate) gets deployed on WebServer.<\/p>\n

7. OAM Agents (WebGates)<\/strong> : are Policy Enforcement Points that are deployed on WebServer and connects to OAM Managed Server for policy decision. \u00a0We cover OHS & WebGate in detail on Day 3<\/strong> of OAM Training<\/a><\/p>\n
