OES is the Oracle strategic product for fine grained authorization. If there are elements to be protected at granular level based on roles, we can do it with OES.

Hi,
Is it necessary to have Oracle Access manager if we need to install and work with OES. My assumption on OES is, it will perform the function of OAM + fine grained authorization. am I right?.. pls make me clear on this aspect.

    @ Velkongu,
As mentioned by Mahendra, OES can be implemented standalone (without OAM) for fine grained authorization.

OES can work as stand-alone. It does not need to be integrated with OAM always. Let me know your requirement.

Hi,

We are using OES10gR3 now and looking for migration to 11g. Can you let me know of any strategies to it? Currently we are using OES on WAS (custimized by ORacle for us). Can you please share any strategies/ideas towards it at the earliest?

Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
Charu

    @ evergreen.charu@gmail.com,
There is no direct upgrade path from OES 10g on WAS to OES 11g on WLS . How many policies do you have ? Deployment of OES 11g Server and migration of policies would be best option as of today .

Hi Atul,

THanks for the response…

Its actually migration from OES 10g on WAS to OES 11g on WAS only (weneed to get a customized installable for our us as we got for 10g). Regarding policies we have around 2000. THe ORacle 10g db that we are currently using would also be ported to 11g. Do you foresee any issues that you think might affect our migration? PLease let me know ur ideas…
